Reception

‎Yakuza 5 Remastered is the best installment in Kiryu's remastered trilogy, but it's still a poor effort by RGG Studio to adapt the game with better graphics and even controls. As a game, it is one of the best in the entire series and its scale and ambition are as big as any AAA with infinitely more budget.‎

Yakuza 5 Remastered proves that great games are timeless, as Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has gone all out, expanding the number of playable characters and locales to explore. As expected, the voice acting is still superb, and the newly re-translated English dialogue is excellent. There are so many substories and minigames to enjoy, such as idol performances,...

Yakuza 5 only trails behind Yakuza 0 in terms of quality. It is a game with a fantastic story, solid technical performance, fun fighting mechanics and a ridiculous amount of content.

Yakuza 5 was a solid game on its own, and of the three titles in the Yakuza Remastered Collection it was arguably the title with the least amount of changes needed. But Yakuza 5 Remastered does a great job of using localization to modify an already great story and set of substories to tell an even more effective story than before.

Between the minigames, side quests, substories, idol simulator, and main story, Yakuza 5 offers a truly stunning value for your money.
