Total War Arena is a very different game compared to other Total War-games, but with its fast and tactical gameplay and ten versus ten players it's a good game in its own right. Unfortunately, it's near impossible to keep playing for free and leaves a sour taste.

Total War: Arena is a free-to-play, team-based strategy game, putting players in the middle of epic-scale realtime battles. Join 10v10 battles designed for multiplayer realtime strategy fans, with armies of thousands on the battlefield. Control three units of warriors, led by an iconic commander from history, each with their own battle style. Level up commanders and units to open up more specialist skills, weaponry, armour and abilities. Decisive strategies, combat tactics and teamwork decide who is victorious.

Arena is not typical Total War game. But is is funny online game with good gameplay and limited strategy elements.
The stripped-back fundamentals of this strategy game are refreshing, but the progression system less so
Despite some invedent microtransactions, Total War Arena is a huge surprise, where the mix between RTS and MOBA's dynamics works pefectly. Beware: you have to make a close-knit and coordinated group of friends to play with, if you don't want to loose too many matches.
Total War Arena takes the best parts of the Total War saga battles and brings them together in quick strategic matches that are both exciting and fun, but they are weighed down by a slow progression system and the lack of a more varied offer of game modes
