Developed by Digital Sun, creators of Moonlighter, The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is an action RPG that takes place in the League of Legends universe. In the kingdom of Demacia, the Mageseekers hold the power to oppress magic-using citizens in the name of public order–by inducting and indoctrinating them, locking them away, or driving them into hiding.
Play as Sylas, a spell-stealing mage who has just broken free of his unjust captivity at the Mageseekers’ hands. Wielding the chains that once bound you, you must liberate your homeland from tyranny, one Mageseeker at a time.
Adapting a monument like League of Legends is not an easy task. The small studio Digital Sun manages to deliver a good game but not one without its flaws. The story takes a while to get going, as does the hero's power growth. LoL fans will find The Mageseeker A League of Legends Story an honest but imperfect adaptation.
The Mageseekers certainly has an audience, especially with LoL having over 152 million monthly players. And while I wasn’t aware of Sylas before this game, I did find his story interesting but for as much as I liked him, I loved all the cameos. Being able to see Shyvana in her full-size dragon form was a treat and I could really appreciate the size...
Mageseeker's gorgeous pixel art aesthetic and exciting action combat, paired with interesting mechanics, make this a game that even non-League of Legends fans should check out.
The Mageseeker is an enjoyable ARPG with some interesting insights. Unfortunately, a mission design not up to the standards and some technical issues prevent it from aspiring to the Olympus of the genre.
Mageseeker is a slog that even die-hard League of Legends fans will have trouble getting through.
