Reception

I really wanted to love SwapQuest but it's neither memorable nor essential in any sense of the word. That's not to say it's a bad game, because it's not. It's still fun to play, but as an experiment in mixing a puzzle genre with the RPG, it's proof that this particular genre isn't necessarily easy to smash together.

Swap Quest is a cutesy, tile swapping RPG and puzzle hybrid with clear mobile roots. It doesn't feel robust enough on console and is better played on mobile.

SwapQuest is a fun little title that successfully blurs the lines between RPG and the puzzler Pipe Dream. While it does have some drawbacks, its addictive gameplay remains entertaining throughout, which really comes into its own in the final few hours. There's nothing groundbreaking here, but what SwapQuest can provide you with is an enjoyable distraction...

Sporting solid gameplay with good variation between its levels, the game provides effective entertainment for the couple of evenings it should take to polish off.

SwapQuest is the best portable puzzle game that I've played in a very long time.
