It's a puzzle game, and it doesn't pretend to be anything more than that. Each zone is its own mini puzzle, and solving it nets you an Egypt fact, which is a neat little touch that keeps you engaged beyond just the puzzle solving itself. The hint and error system is genuinely really good, which makes the whole thing feel fair rather than punishing. My one nitpick is that I wish the puzzle you were solving had some visual relation to the picture you were uncovering, as you'd get in a Picross game, but it's not a big deal that it doesn't. There also isn't really any change in difficulty as you progress, so this leans more toward being a relaxing time sink than a difficult experience, but that fits the overall vibe the game is going for anyway.\nThe facts and theme. The ancient Egyptian theme gives the game a unique atmosphere that keeps things interesting even when the puzzle mechanics themselves stay pretty consistent throughout. The facts you unlock alongside each completed picture are accurate and interesting to read, and pairing them with the finished art gives each one a bit more weight than just being a random trivia dump.\nThe art. Full Review

Mosaic of the Pharaohs has you working through one absolutely massive picture, broken up into individual zones that each function as their own mini puzzle, using minesweeper-style numbered clues to figure out which tiles need to be filled in. Solve enough of it, and you're rewarded with a piece of an Egyptian mosaic along with a little history lesson to go with it.

The gameplay. There also isn't really any change in difficulty as you progress, so this leans more toward being a relaxing time sink than a difficult experience, but that fits the overall vibe the game is going for anyway.

The facts and theme. The ancient Egyptian theme gives the game a unique atmosphere that keeps things interesting even when the puzzle mechanics themselves stay pretty consistent throughout. The facts you unlock alongside each completed picture are accurate and interesting to read, and pairing them with the finished art gives each one a bit more weight than just being a random trivia dump.

The art. The pixel art here is beautiful, and seeing a fully completed mosaic once you've cleared a section is very satisfying. It's easily one of the best parts of the whole experience and makes all that clicking feel worth it in the end.

Overall, Mosaic of the Pharaohs is a relaxing, well-designed puzzle game that knows exactly what it is and executes on that idea well. The Egyptian theme, the accurate and interesting facts, and the gorgeous pixel art all come together to make completing this massive mosaic a genuinely satisfying experience. I recommend giving this game a try if you're looking for something relaxing to sink your time into!
