Gas Guzzlers Extreme is fast, furious and armed to the teeth: lead-foot-trigger-happy shooter shifted into the 5th gear! It’s a fast-paced addictive combat racing game that features many different vehicles, weapons, upgrades, on-track bonuses as well as distinctive environments.
Players starts with low performance vehicles and gradually works his way up by earning money in a series of challenging races.
Though my natural tendency is to giggle at the use of EXTREME in any title, and I won’t try to argue that the game’s presentation doesn’t inspire confidence, I’ll admit that I’ve had much more fun with this combat racer than I would have assumed...
As long as you’re aware that Gas Guzzlers Extreme is a single-player only experience, chances are you’ll get a hell of a lot of enjoyment out of it. It’s nice that you can chart your own course through the game’s career, focusing on racing or combat as you see fit. And there are plenty of vehicles to unlock, purchase and upgrade to your heart’s content....
No matter how well you do, you’ll never pull away from the pack. It’s the cheapest of AI solutions and undermines any sense of accomplishment. There’s no escape from it either, as the game does not support multiplayer. So it’s AI racing or nothing.
Gas Guzzlers Extreme is a bad name for a pretty bad game.
