It's hard to master, but don't be put off it is not that hard to learn how to play each turn. Definitely recommend if you like hoi4 but want to go a lot deeper.

As someone else has already said, it's actually possible to play this game at a very superficial level, as just a "pushing counters round the map" exercise. But there's such an enormous, incredibly detailed engine under the hood. And every (rewarding) detail you ingest from the 520 page manual helps you understand the game, and play the game, better....
