puzzle experience that proves how a simple concept can become surprisingly engaging when built around strong core mechanics and smart pacing. Developed by Zanarka Studio, the game revolves around organizing and combining dice on a compact board in order to clear space and maintain momentum for as long as possible. While the gameplay initially appears straightforward, the deeper strategic layer gradually emerges as the board becomes crowded and every move begins to matter. The result is a relaxing yet addictive puzzle game that thrives on careful planning, efficiency, and the constant pursuit of higher scores.\nAt the heart of the experience is an extremely accessible gameplay loop. Players place and combine matching dice values to remove them from the board while preventing the grid from filling completely. The rules are easy to understand within minutes, making the game approachable even for players who normally avoid puzzle-heavy titles. Despite this simplicity, the game quickly develops a surprising amount of tension. Early rounds feel calm and methodical, but as the available space shrinks, each decision carries greater consequences. This gradual escalation creates a satisfying rhythm where moments of relaxation slowly transform into frantic problem-solving.\nOne of the game’s greatest strengths is how naturally it encourages replayability. Every failed attempt immediately creates the temptation to start another round and improve on previous mistakes. The score-chasing structure works exceptionally well because the game constantly feels like it could be mastered with just a little more careful planning. The interface is clean, the board is easy to read, and the visual design avoids unnecessary clutter that might distract from strategic thinking. The mechanics are simple enough for casual players to enjoy immediately, but there is enough depth hidden within the scoring and positioning systems to reward long-term improvement. Players who spend time refining their approach will begin recognizing patterns, optimizing placements, and developing more advanced strategies to survive longer runs. The game never becomes mechanically complex, but it still creates a strong sense of progression through player skill alone.\nHowever, the simplicity that makes the game approachable can also become one of its weaknesses over time. The core mechanics remain mostly unchanged throughout the experience, and there are limited gameplay variations to significantly alter the formula. The game’s ability to create tension from such simple mechanics is genuinely impressive, and the addictive nature of its score-chasing structure keeps the experience engaging far longer than expected.\nFor fans of minimalist puzzle games, Dice Keeper offers a rewarding blend of relaxation and strategic challenge. Its accessible gameplay, clean presentation, and addictive replayability make it easy to recommend for players who enjoy thoughtful arcade-style experiences. Dice Keeper is a minimalist puzzle experience that proves how a simple concept can become surprisingly engaging when built around strong core mechanics and smart pacing. The result is a relaxing yet addictive puzzle game that thrives on careful planning, efficiency, and the constant pursuit of higher scores.

At the heart of the experience is an extremely accessible gameplay loop. This gradual escalation creates a satisfying rhythm where moments of relaxation slowly transform into frantic problem-solving.

One of the game’s greatest strengths is how naturally it encourages replayability. Every failed attempt immediately creates the temptation to start another round and improve on previous mistakes. The score-chasing structure works exceptionally well because the game constantly feels like it could be mastered with just a little more careful planning. A single bad move can ruin an otherwise promising run, which makes successful chains and efficient board management feel genuinely rewarding. "Dice Keeper" is a blatant ripoff of Devil Dice (Copyright THQ, 1998). The "developer" has looked at an existing, successful game and decided that copying it was an acceptable substitute for having an original idea.

At this stage no legal action has been taken by THQ against the "developer" here, but it's never off the table, as previous copyright law cases have shown.

Beyond the copyright issue, the unwritten rule of cloning someone else's game is that you should at least try to improve on it. Dice Keeper doesn't.

DIG Games/Zanarka Studio have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. An example of DIG Games doing this is Candy Mandy, which is really "Match 3 Jelly Garden Kit", written by the actual developers, Candy Smith. Also, Yabgits: Haunted Cemetery, which is really "Block Breaker Template", developed by Daniel Buckley.

The game is very simplistic, small and limited in scope and ambition. This feels more like a tech demo, proof of concept or student homework assignment rather than a fully fledged product designed for PC gamers. As such it doesn't offer any real value as a serious PC game.

Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.

There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.

The game assets are fairly mediocre/low quality which fits with the idea they weren't developed by the game creator... they look like they're "just reasonable enough" to go on sale as part of an asset pack. The issue of asset flipping aside, ultimately the quality of these assets is low and low quality always makes for a less than optimal gaming experience.

The game assets, such as they are, are much higher than the general quality of the game and it seems apparent the developer has just plagiarised/kitbashed them. Stock assets are just there to be used as placeholders while the developer creates their own assets for their games, but what happens far more often is lazy/unethical developers just throw a bunch of other peoples assets into a blender and put their own name on the horrible Frankenstein's Monster that results. Like this mess.

The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.

Those technical issues put this game beneath what is expected from a contemporary, professionally developed PC game.

The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.

Next is pricing and value. Is this game worth buying from among the 140,000+ games on Steam?

Dice Keeper has the almost scam-like price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer.

For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "Portal", "Mad Max" or "Shadow Warrior". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.

Ethics aside, there's enough defects and quality problems with this game that it's not worth recommending to gamers, but the unethical nature of the developer/their associates makes it completely impossible.

Finally, I'm here to try help save gamers time and money by filtering out the noise and substandard games... there's up to 50 games launched on Steam Direct every day! They aren't all great... most of them suck. If you don't agree with my assessment of the defects in this game, go ahead and buy it... maybe you'll find the same defects I did, maybe not.
