Deathstate is a roguelike bullet hell adventure set in a bizarre world of dimensional exploration. Play as a number of unique characters trying to discover the fate of Professor Elinberg who opened a portal to the void. Are you ready to venture deep into the abyss?
Deathstate feels a little too familiar to stand out from the rest. There are enjoyable moments and it is easier than its gaming brethren, but that doesn’t make it better. Even fans of the genre might not find enough to sink their teeth into to keep coming back to this one.
If you're looking for a satisfying roguelike to play in short bursts then Deathstate: Abyssal Edition will definitely act as a fun distraction.
I appreciate that the game's also attempting to throw in some bullet hell elements and so on, but it's only middling at that kind of action too. There might be some limited interest in Deathstate for people who like to overcome difficulty spikes, but to be honest, you're better off dusting off that copy of the Gauntlet remake instead.
