Reception

Corsair Cove isn’t really about being a pirate. No sir. It’s about running the place where pirates live. And surprisingly, that’s what makes it work. The pirate setting gets your attention, but the city-building systems are what keep you playing. Once your settlement starts spreading across cliffs and your production chains become more complicated,...

The original concept and decent execution make Corsair Cove worthy of attention from genre fans, but some flaws and general inconveniences could easily turn off many gamers—at least until potential patches appear.

Corsair Cove is on of the most atmospheric City Builders I played in years. Especially the vertical constructions and the pirate twists on the formula are entertaining.

Corsair Cove nevertheless remains a very good city-builder and an easy recommendation for fans of management games. Its vertical settlements are distinctive, its pirate atmosphere is excellent and its opening hours are among the most immediately enjoyable I have experienced in the genre.

Although Corsair Cove doesn’t reinvent the city building genre, it does an excellent job at creating a stunning pirate adventure like the first Tropico games managed to do back in the day.
