Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is a first-person shooter with single-player and multiplayer modes. It is set in a near future where powered exoskeletons give soldiers enhanced mobility such as boosting, dashing, and jumping, alongside conventional and directed-energy weapons. The campaign follows a single protagonist through a cinematic story, while multiplayer and a wave-based cooperative survival mode build on the exoskeleton movement and a loadout customization system.
If you're a fan of the series, I'd say this is worth picking up. If you're new to the series, this is a good place to start. On the other hand, if you're not into the competitive multiplayer and are coming for the single-player campaign, I'd say wait for a price-drop. Advanced Warfare isn't the game to answer those questions. Much like the soldiers that populate its fiction, what strengths it has come from the technology bolted to the surface while what's inside looks more fragile and vulnerable than ever.
The campaign is predictable, dumb fun, and the multiplayer is some of Call of Duty's best—but still subject to every existing criticism of CoD.
