Overview

Caligo is the darkness everyone descends into one way or another, and to each of us it's something different. For some it's a short but exciting adventure, some will see it as a place to relax. Yet others will be reminded of their worst nightmare, while for a few, it might come as a revelation.

Reception

Caligo tackles a theme that is both simple and profoundly complex: the essence of life and how we live it, exploring human will and the art of choice. Unlike narrative-driven games that rely on interactive gameplay or relative freedom, Caligo places its entire weight on storytelling, requiring players to move from point A to B solely to advance dialogues....

What will you learn from this journey?

The walking simulator genre as a whole tends to deal with life and death as a main topic, and few do it with as much visual and technical aplomb as here with Caligo. That said, the heavy duty narrative delivery, and occasionally underwhelming voice acting may mean that this is a game better suited to streamers who can have live existential discussions...

A walking simulator that tries to justify its simplicity with some philosophy… but does it work?

Caligo sets the bar high and fails to meet it. The graphics are beautiful, but come at the expense of poor optimization and a lackluster story that barely lasts 50 minutes
